RM Bhadang gets ACC clearance as Director (Finance) of Konkan Railway

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of RM Bhadang as Director (Finance) of Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) on Tuesday. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), he has been appointed to the post with effect from the date of assumption of the charge of the post, or till the date of his superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He is currently serving as General Manager (F&A) & Chief Financial Officer in Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL).

Bhadang was recommended for the post of Director (Finance) of Konkan Railway by a PESB panel on August 21, 2020. He was selected for the post from a list of three candidates who were interviewed by the selection panel. The other two candidates who were on the list were from KRCL and CG Power & Industrial Solutions Limited. The post of Director (Finance) in KRCL is vacant since October 12, 2019.

Profile of RM Bhadang

Bhadang is an experienced Finance Manager with a demonstrated history of working in the legal services industry. He has hands-on skills in negotiation, petroleum, project management, risk management and energy. He is a strong finance professional with a bachelor's degree focused in Civil Engineering from LD Engineering College, Ahmedabad. He is a fellow member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, ICWA and Institute of Cost Accountants of India. He has also done an MBA in Finance from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).

New role and responsibility

As Director (Finance) of KRCL, Bhadang will be a member of the board of directors of the company and will report to the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). He will be overall in charge of the finance and accounts of the organisation and will be responsible for evolving and formulating policies related to finance and accounts as well as implementation thereof.

Konkan Railway

The Konkan Railway is a railway operated by the Konkan Railway Corporation Limited, with its headquarters at CBD Belapur in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. The first passenger train ran on Konkan railway tracks on March 20, 1993, between Udupi and Mangalore. During its initial years of operation in the mountainous Konkan region, a number of accidents prompted Konkan Railway to implement new technology. Anti-collision devices, the Sky Bus and roll-on/roll-off are several of the railway's innovations. The 741-km (461-mi) line connects the states of Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka. The first train on the completed track was sent off on January 26, 1998. Konkan Railways has 34 stations present in Maharashtra.
