POWERGRID shows comprehensive approach in fight against COVID-19

Gurugram: There is a Duke Ellington's way to put these unprecedented difficult times in perspective. "A problem is a chance for you to do your best" he had said, and POWERGRID totally believes in it. When the entire country is locked down and poor and needy people are struggling to meet their day ends, POWERGRID comes out with pan India CSR activities that reach out to many, if not all. POWERGRID's Western Region-1 (WR-1) is undertaking activities for distributing food items to the contract workers, construction workers, migrant workers or to the people who are in distress due to the current situation. Contribution by Powergrid and other power PSUs was praised by Minister for Power and Renewables RK Singh.

This is important to mention here that the CSR activities compiled in this news report are beyond the financial support of Rs 200 crores to 'PM CARES Fund' under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, that was announced by the chairman Kandikuppa Sreekant. "As a responsible corporate citizen, PowerGrid has contributed Rs 130 crore to Prime Minister's CARES fund. To help fight the COVID-19 pandemic, it has committed another contribution of Rs 70 crore in the next financial year. This makes PowerGrid's total contribution as Rs 200 crore. PowerGrid's employees are also contributing a part of their salary towards the cause," the company had announced on Twitter.
