MV Rajasekhar assumes additional charge as CMD of BEML

New Delhi: BEML Limited's Director (Mining & Construction) MV Rajasekhar has assumed additional charge as Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of the defence PSU on February 1. He has succeeded Dr Deepak Kumar Hota, who retired from service on account of superannuation on January 31. Rajasekhar has been assigned with the additional charge of the post for a period of three months with effect from February 1, or till regular incumbent is appointed or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He is serving as Director (Mining & Construction) of BEML since June 1, 2019.

Profile of MV Rajasekhar

Rajasekhar is a graduate in Metallurgical Engineering from VNIT, Nagpur. He also holds a post-graduate degree (M Tech) in Welding Engineering from IIT Chennai. In addition, he has done his MS in Technology Management in Germany. He has over 31 years of varied experience spread across several functions like research and development, production, planning, outsourcing and marketing. His production experience includes equipment, aggregates of mining & construction, defence and rail & metro businesses. Prior to assuming the present position, Rajasekhar was the Executive Director (Mining & Construction Business).

BEML Limited

BEML Limited, formerly known as Bharat Earth Movers Limited, was established in May 1964 as a PSU for the manufacture of Rail Coaches & Spare Parts and Mining Equipment at its Bangalore Complex. The company has partially disinvested and presently the government owns 54 percent of total equity and rest 46 percent is held by Public, Financial Institutions, Foreign Institutional Investors, Banks and BEML Employees. BEML plays a pivotal role in serving India's core sectors like defence, rail, power, mining and infrastructure. The company started with a modest turnover of Rs 5 crore in1965 and the total turnover of the company is now more than Rs 3,500 crore.
