Govt appoints Sanjeev Verma (IRSS) as part time official Director of Hindustan Copper

New Delhi: The government has nominated Sanjeev Verma (IRSS) as part-time official Director on Hindustan Copper Limited's (HCL) board. According to an order from the Ministry of Mines, Verma has been nominated for the post with immediate effect and until further orders. He is an Indian Railway Stores Service (IRSS) officer and currently serving as Director in the Ministry of Mines. With this, he has succeeded Satendra Singh, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Mines. This information has been shared the HCL in a regulatory filing to the stock exchange on Friday.

Profile of Verma

Verma is an IRSS officer of 2003-batch. He is currently serving as Director in the Ministry of Mines since February 2019. He is an Engineering Graduate (B.Tech) in civil engineering from MINT, Jaipur. He also did training of Management Development Programme. Verma has wide experience of dealing with the procurement of goods and services required for various users of Indian Railways. He has expertise in E-procurement, complete digital supply chain, contract management, design of contract conditions for complex products & services, implementation of policies of the government in purchase matters like Make in India, GeM and MSME.

He had worked as Deputy Vigilance Officer, also and coordinated with CVC/CBI for matters related to Ministry of Railways. As Chief Information Officer (IT) in North Western Railway, he was dealing with IT Infrastructure of the NWR and coordination with central software implementing agencies of Indian Railways.

Currently, as Director in the Ministry of Mines, he is looking after issues related to auction of mines, mineral concessions, and utilisation of DMF and implementation of PMKKKY scheme.

He is a recipient of 'Railway Board Award' in 2006-07 and 'General Manager Individual Award' in 2014-15.

HCL is the only vertically integrated copper producer in India engaged in a wide spectrum of activities ranging from Mining, Beneficiation, Smelting, Refining and Continuous Cast Rod manufacturer. HCL shares are listed at Mumbai, Delhi, Calcutta, Chennai, Ahmedabad exchanges.
