Former IAAI Chairman Prof NK Singh passes away

New Delhi: Former Chairman of International Airports Authority of India (now Airports Authority of India) Professor NK Singh passed away on Wednesday, February 17, at the age of 84 years. Prof Singh, a Poet, an Artist, Management Guru, a man of letters who wrote and sketched his mind as and when he got the time out of his busy schedule. His book 'Haiku view' (a Japanese form of poetry), was published recently. This clearly demonstrated the way people shall cherish the retired life. His presence on Facebook further highlights his updated status with the latest technology adoption skills.

Where-ever he worked, he left behind his mark of tough, people-oriented, leadership & institution Development. FORE (now School of Management), AIMA, MDI, IAAI, to name a few and post-retirement too he had been in constant touch with all his colleagues at large.

Prof Singh gave the Indian Aviation Industry a full-fledged academy and institution namely the Institute of Airport Management the then IAAI and today's Indian Aviation Academy under AAI. Many old veterans still recall the Institue as Monkey Form; that is a separate story, why it's called so.

The family at IAAI (now AAI) do remember him as a Chairman who turned around aviation in general and airports in particular when it was needed the most. Prof Singh demonstrated himself as a truly dynamic personality who could identify a person's talent and potential of honest, committed & dedicated lot in the organisation and protect them against all odds of the corporate world.

He was a selfless and welfare-oriented personality and build the IAAI as an organisation rich with this philosophy.

There are many firsts that go to his credit; be it uniform for airport employees, the women welfare wing within the organization. He could motivate and support to make decisions fearlessly and always insisted upon a result-oriented environment.  He was impatient when the delivery was demanded!

IAAI became one of top profit-making PSU's and all employees are indebted to him for the league that he had established, and this still runs in their genes.  He enjoyed his life fully to hit hights be it at the professional level, social level or at the domestic level.  He finally settled away from the hassle bustle of the Metro Style Life but always remained in touch with his friends across the globe; while being settled at his home state Himachal Pradesh.
