New Delhi: India's largest miner and Maharatna coal PSU, Coal India Limited (CIL) celebrated its 46th Foundation Day on November 1. The occasion was graced by the Union Minister for Coal & Mines Pralhad Joshi, who joined the programme virtually. In the beginning of the programme, CIL's Chairman Pramod Agrawal paid tributes at Martyrs Memorial & unfurled the CIL flag.

Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Joshi said "The national miner (Coal India) is our country's pride, supporting domestic industries across several sectors overcome Covid-slump. Best wishes to the employees & management for achieving annual targets with due emphasis to safety & quality."

On the occasion, Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), a subsidiary company of CIL, has been awarded 10 nos national awards, which are the highest number of awards given to any subsidiary company of CIL. WCL has been awarded the Safety, Environment, Rehabilitation & Resettlement and Corporate Performance awards. Along with this, the 'N Kumar Innovation Award' has been presented to the Central Workshop (Tadali)'s Ajay Kumar Sinha, Dinkar Itankar, Yogiraj Uge and Prashant Thackeray.

In the individual category, Chandrika Karan Yadav of Nagpur area received the Bravery Award, Vijay Munishwer awarded with Special Contribution Award, General Manager of Majri Area VK Gupta awarded with Best GM Award, Head Office's DB Revatkar awarded with Best HoD and Ramehar has been awarded the Individual Excellence Award.

WCL's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) RR Mishra highlighted the achievements of the entire team and congratulated them in a virtual ceremony held at the CIL headquarters on Sunday. He said that the team WCL is truly the best among all the companies of CIL.

He said that the team WCL is making its best contribution to the development of the company and its positive results are also coming. On the occasion, Mishra also pledged to save himself and his companions from COVID-19.

The programme was attended by the Board of Directors of all the CIL's subsidiaries, senior officials and employees of the organisation.
