New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Chandan Kumar Mondol as Director of NTPC Limited, a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Power, on Monday. According to an order issued on June 8, Mondol has been appointed on the post for a period with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post on or August 1, till the date of his superannuation i.e. January 1, 2023, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He is currently serving as Executive Director in the same organisation.

Earlier, PSU Watch had reported that Mondol was recommended for the post of Director (Commercial) of NTPC Limited by a PESB panel on January 29. He was selected for the post from a list of 11 candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel.

Mondol's education & background

Mondol is an alumnus of St. Xavier's College and had completed his bachelor of engineering (BE) from Jadavpur University. He has about 35 years of professional experience in the power sector. His area of experience includes Power Generation, Project Management, Contract Management, Engineering, Procurement, EPC, Renewable Energy and Customer Relationship Management in the power sector. He has served NTPC in various capacities. He had joined NTPC as ET in 1984. Currently, he is also the Chairman of Ratnagiri Gas & Power Pvt Limited, a joint venture (JV) company of NTPC Limited and GAIL (India) Limited.
