COVID-19: How BJP’s national leadership is spearheading the party’s nationwide relief operations

(Opinion Piece): A grave crisis shows the true mettle of a great leader. The current Corona Virus crisis, unprecedented in human history, has posed a serious challenge to our Government and our leaders both. JP Nadda national president of Bharatiya Janata Party has taken the challenge head-on and has been showing the way by leading from the front. There is a famous quote that is often quoted in articles related to political science and leadership. It goes like this "Leaders instil in their people a hope for success and a belief in themselves. Positive leaders empower people to accomplish their goals." If you closely watch BJP's national president JP Nadda's performance in the testing times of COVID-19, you would realise how true the quote and coincidently how dedicated to the quote the man is.

Overseeing the party's nationwide relief measures for the poor and the needy during the nationwide lockdown, BJP's national president JP Nadda has galvanized the party cadres. In his marathon efforts, Nadda has personally addressed over four lakh party members through more than seventy Video Conferences and twenty Audio Conferences which is kind of a record in itself.

In a recent interaction with Party Leaders through Video Conference, Nadda informed that the party organisation has worked harder during the national lockdown than usual, successfully using its huge organisational machinery to supplement the Modi Government's efforts to help the needy people in this crisis caused by Corona Virus. Under his leadership, the party has quickly adapted its work-culture to the needs of the National Lockdown. These Programmes have been making efficient use of appropriate technology to spearhead and monitor a host of relief activities down to the levels of Districts and even Blocks. Inspired by the personal example of Nadda, the BJP workers have so far distributed food to over five crore people and provided Ration Kits, which contain enough provisions for a family for one week, to one crore people under the "Feed The Needy" Campaign. Never before in the history of the country has a Political Party undertaken such a massive exercise to bring food to the poor and the needy.

Following Prime Minister Modi's clarion call, BJP National President JP Nadda has also asked the BJP party workers and cadres to work to ensure that every household in a Polling Booth gets two face covers, and also urged them to impress upon 40 people each to donate to the PM Cares Fund, which has been launched by the Modi Government to raise funds to boost its fight against COVID-19.

To keep the party's relief work energised and on course, BJP national president JP Nadda has been regularly holding interactive sessions with senior party leaders from various states as well as the central leadership. This was put into practice as soon as the nationwide lockdown came into force on March 25, 2020. BJP office bearers, MPs and senior leaders from various states have been attending Nadda's virtual meetings in which they share relevant details and give important feedback to the president upon which he ensures a further follow-up. Nadda's predecessor and current Home Minister Amit Shah also joined one such Video Conference Conference Meeting recently in which leaders from his home state Gujarat were also present. Amit Shah is the current MP from Gandhinagar.

The BJP President also holds a daily review meeting with the Party's national office bearers and takes their feedback and incorporates the same in his strategy towards fighting COVID-19. Nadda recognizes the importance of information technology and mobile applications in the prevention of the contagion. Altogether under Nadda's dynamic leadership, Bharatiya Janata Party has undertaken an extensive exercise to promote the download of Aarogya Setu Mobile Application, which is designed to keep people informed and aware about the Corona Virus spread in their locality and offers them correct medical advice. Nadda planned and later successfully implemented the nationwide campaign to praise and laud the "Corona Warriors", a term now common for Emergency Workers deployed on the frontline in the fight against the Corona Pandemic.

The BJP President directly communicates with Party Workers from large States as well as those representing smaller regions like Daman and Diu. This speaks for his inclusive style of working. The most significant aspect, however, of Nadda 's dynamic leadership is the transformation of the world's largest political party into an efficient Social Service Organization during this crisis. Nadda has led the party by example. He showed the way to Party Cadres by himself distributing food packets from his home to the needy in a simple way. In doing this, he reflects the great training which he received as an RSS Swayamsewak in this noble endeavour of distribution of food packets. He has efficiently translated the same vision in the Food Distribution Programme known as Modi Rasoi.

Similarly, to help the migrant labourers on their way home, Nadda has led the distribution of Modi Kit of Ration for poor families. Thus under the party president's dynamic and visionary leadership, the BJP has commendably transformed itself from being the world's largest political party into an efficient social service organization as well.
